So I was part of the Fashion Police at the Beirut International Awards Festival last Friday that was broadcasted live on MTV.
For all those who weren’t able to watch, I decided to gather my favorite looks (although most of them weren’t featured or mentioned live on air since they were fashionably late) as well as my least favorite looks in BIAF this year.
Here you go:
The best dressed list:
Sulafa Memar in Nicolas Gebran. Love the design and the color on her. She was glowing in BIAF!
The always elegant Dima Sadek chose a white dress with an attached cape from the Couture collection of Zuhair Murad. She simply knows how to accentuate the best parts in her body! A crossover cut with a belt featuring her beautiful waist.
Lebanese top model Chrystelle Aoun wearing a very stylish dress by Antoine El Kareh. I totally love the contrasts between the black and beige in the dress and her hair and eyes/lips color.
The elegant Nadine Comair chose a Ziad Nseir dress. Design, cut and color suit her a lot!
Mimi Le Blanc in a gracious design by Zuhair Murad.
I am in love with Carla Haddad’s new haircut, fresh and young! Carla has been collaborating with MTV image consultant Carla Tayar for a while and I’ve been noticing a great sense of style when it comes to her daily or red carpet outfits. Here, Carla chose a fully beaded dusty pink (it doesn’t look pink in the pictures) retro style dress by THE DRESS CONCEPT.
Kun Hadi’s Ambassador Inas Abou Ayyash always stuns with her stylish and elegant appearances. For BIAF, she chose a cropped top and skirt with a rigid ruffle by Azzi & Osta.
Sandra Mansour wore her best color, a black dress designed by the amazing Charlotte Licha with an awesome clutch by La Rose de Sim.
Denise Rahme Fakhry looked fresh and elegant in an off-the-shoulder yellow dress by Georges Chacra.
Off-shoulder cuts are the best if you like to enhance your shoulders 🙂
And here is the worst dressed list:
Although the color is nice on her, Pelin Karahan overdid it with the stiff fringed skirt that made her look fat.
Folla chose a bright color that overshadowed her and matching it with a wide black belt is definitely NOT flattering her waist. Besides, the sheer thigh trend should definitely STOP!
Although we all wait to see Lady Madonna’s outfits in her public appearances, that one was definitely not her best. The skin color tulle covering the arm is too thick and the mix of fabrics between the dress and the overskirt in the back is just too much.
Lebanese actress Soha Kikano is definitely trying hard here. Big hair, beads, pearls, flowers…
Again with the sheer thigh trend. Please somebody stop it.
Although I am a big fan of Karoline Lang, but the choice of THIS dress for BIAF red carpet was not spot on. Rita Hayek looks pregnant. She should have chosen another cut at the waist.
Nawal AL Kuwaitiya: A long necklace on a lace dress, sheer at the top showing her black bra with a black belt, and the dangling earrings. Too many elements only in the upper part is a NO NO.
Nancy Ajram’s sense of style is definitely one of my favorite. BUt again the sheer thigh trend is not something that flatters the body, especially with the long lace sleeves and the lower dark part of the dress. This time wasn’t Nancy’s best fashionable appearance.
What’s the statement behind wearing a similar outfit to your daughter’s?
The corset part of the dress is kind of futuristic. It definitely doesn’t match with the floral appliqué belt and the flowy romantic skirt.
First this jumpsuit doesn’t flatter her body as she looks so angular, plus the transparency, the beads and the fact that it is cropped at the ankle definitely put this outfit on the worst dressed list. Oh not to mention the color! This blue is definitely not glamorous for a red carpet event.
Although her body is insanely stunning, Ward el Khal’s choice of this dress wasn’t her best. It is probably the mix of warm colors on a skin colored base.
